Song Hye Kyo and Jun Ji Hyun are the two highest-paid actresses in the Korean drama industry.
According to Hankookilbo, both stars are paid more than 200 million won for each drama they participate in. Currently, Song Hye Kyo is taking on the lead role of SBS’s Now, We’re Farewell, while Jun Ji Hyun is returning to the small screen through tvN’s drama Jirisan.
It is known that the remuneration Song Hye Kyo received for each episode of tvN’s “Boyfriend” in 2018 was 100 million won. Three years later that salary doubled.
Recently, when the TV series “Now We are Breaking Up” aired, the name Song Hye Kyo continuously topped the list of TV stars mentioned the most by Korean netizens. In particular, products worn by the actress all achieved record sales thanks to her influence.
Meanwhile, in 2013, actress Jin Ji Hyun received a salary of 100 million won for each episode of the hit drama “My Love from the Stars”. Her latest project – Jirisan was based on iQIYI (China) Quoc) bought it for 20 billion won before it aired. Immediately after its release, Jirisan’s views reached first place on foreign video platforms.
In Korean showbiz, there aren’t many female actors who earn more than 100 million won per appearance on dramas. In addition to famous names like Song Hye Kyo, Jun Ji Hyun, other names like Lee Young Ae, Son Ye Jin, and Go Hyun Jung also receive a salary of more than 100 million won per episode.
What these stars have in common is the huge influence they have built up in the past. The fact that the actor owns a strong fandom is also a premise for movie works to easily penetrate and become famous in foreign markets.
